FIA European Finals 2009

The biggest drag racing event in Europe is the FIA European Finals held at the beginning of September, How did team Nosferatu fair? Count Fearless tells all...

6.91 @ 198 mph. We've done it, and backed it up with a 6.94 later in the day, but it came with quite a high price tag and a lot of work from the team. Team Nosferatu arrived bright an early on Thursday morning, armed with a new set of Hoosier tyres and the same tune as the last meeting at Shakey, where we had run a new PB of 7.002. We made the call for the first qualifying run and went through our normal routine except the burnout on the new tyres, which didn't give us our normal amount of smoke and the engine seemed to rev too freely. I thought we would blow the tyres away when the lights went down but instead the car hooked like it never had before, both front wheels at least a foot in the air. We kept on it and made it through the top end with no problems (apart from the run being not too straight). At the collection end the team wound me up a bit before telling me we had broken out of our 7.00 dial in and run a 6.91. Plenty of cheering and hugs all round.
