| Was Nosferatu out? Had the car that could not be killed been killed? | |||

The next run saw the blower belt snap, damaging our bonnet and blower belt guard. Mysterious and I headed off to the workshop to straighten it out leaving Mina (Mrs Fearless) to carry out gaffer tape repairs to the bonnet. It took some time to re-fit the guard to the motor but Igor and Sparks persevered and got that sucker on. The last run of the day saw us net another six second pass, a 6.94 @ 198 mph and once celebrations were over (again) we started on the turn around routines. During this we noticed some strange markings to the blower belt teeth and traced this to some damage on the teeth of the crank blower pulley. Strange, it looked like the pulley had touched the fuel pump, but this is about ¼ inch away… impossible! We pulled and pushed and found that the pulley was moving. We checked the bolts and these were tight. Oh dear, only one answer and after dropping the sump off there it was, the nose of the crankshaft had cleanly snapped at the front rod journal. So was that it? Was Nosferatu out? Had the car that could not be killed been killed? No, No way! Previous Page Next Page
