"The next four runs were made with identical settings and were separated by just 0.036 seconds. Who says you can't have a blown alky bracket car!"

We sat out the first qualifying round as there were only a few sportsman classes and we had the day to ourselves. The weather was clear and bright so there was little risk that bad weather would stop us from running. When Leigh the Hearse turned up with his Caddy hearse the faces of the people in the pits was classic, smiles all round and all commenting that it was the perfect tow car for Nosferatu. We had made several changes to the car over the winter and really had no idea how it would perform, so we dialled a 7.00 to make sure we qualified on the right side of the dial in number. After a nice 330 ft burnout the run gave us a 7.17 so we now knew where the setup would put us. The next four runs were made with identical settings and were separated by just 0.036 seconds. Who says you can't have a blown alky bracket car! Our best qualifying run was 0.017 seconds shy of our dial, in which was good enough for 9th. On Sunday we decided to try for the magic six. We increased the blower boost from 13% to 18% overdrive and added more fuel, then it was off to the start line to see what would happen. We dialled a 7.07 but hoped for a breakout. What happened was quite bizarre…
