"I had to drive with one hand on the steering wheel and the other hand on the fuel shut off lever. Fancy driving a car with 1,700 horse power one handed?"

| Nosferatu leapt off the start line with an almost NPB 60 ft time and then lost power, lifting off the throttle the engine came back to life, but with another stab it died and we cruised through the traps with an 11.5 at 66 mph. What had happened was the acceleration acting on the fuel shut off cable and lever had actually partially shut off the fuel starving the motor. Back in the pits we made a thorough check of the engine to ensure the lean out hadn't cased any damage, it hadn't and we were very relieved.
For the next run I had to drive with one hand on the steering wheel and the other hand on the fuel shut off lever. Fancy driving a car with 1,700 horse power one handed? That's fun. So keeping the 7.08 dial in we ran a breakout 7.06 but just before the shift into second Nosferatu twitched and I had to lift off the throttle slightly to maintain control. Next run we dialled 7.04 to compensate for the lift and ran the quickest run for all the vehicles in Super Pro (even the dragsters) and broke out again with a 7.02. We were over the moon. Fate was yet to deal another blow as we were knocked out in round one with an engine misfire.
Never mind, we will fix it and be ready to kick butt at the Summer Nationals. Please check out our fantastic in-car video and if you have any questions or any ideas for my next blog (or want to hear from another team member) please let us know via our guestbook. See you at the strip! PS, Congratulations to my mate Rick Swan on his NPB of 9.08 @ 158 mph in his fully street legal Classic Capri at Shakey. He will soon have an 8 second street car.
