Pre Race - huge effort We started at 6 am on Saturday morning - determined to eliminate all signs of the annoying misfire that put us out at the previous meeting. The whole team pulled together changing and checking every part of the ignition system. Both batteries were replaced with new ones (kindly lent to us by Nick George, earth cables and live feeds were inspected, measured and checked, spark plugs were replaced, the magnetic pick-up sensor was replaced, the MSD distributor was stripped, checked, locked out and phased in. The engine fired 1st time and, I have to say, sounded very crisp. The throttle response on this engine is a bit like a shotgun going off right next to your head - it hurts! The timing was checked out during the initial warm up and set at just 35 degrees, running the same fuel tune as on our 7.02 sec run, however this time I was secretly feeling confident that (track conditions permitting) we would see our first six second pass....
