Post Race - broken knee caps It was not to be. Cracked main caps were found thankfully before we fired up the engine again.(Extra slops for you this week Igor!) In addition to this No2 bearing had spun around in the journal cutting off the oil supply to the crank and the rods. We were about 1 second away from seizing the rod to the crank, snapping it and smashing it out through the block. I wouldn't like to say what would have happened if we had not found the cracks and ran the engine on the strip again. I will use word association instead....Grenade... The caps fitted to the Bowtie CNC block failed under the extreme load placed upon them. It's as simple as that. The engine has since been stripped down to a bare block and awaits delivery of a new set of ProGram billet caps. There are none finer in the industry and I am confident that this will eliminate the problem. I am pleased to report that there is no damage to the crankshaft or any other major parts so I would say we got of very lightly. Previous Page First page
